After the successful BuildForce recruiting trip at the start of the month to the Career Transition Partnership’s employment fair at Newbury racecourse in Berkshire (post), we have been grabbing other opportunities to register potential beneficiaries. Our latest mission, last week, saw Mike Davis-Marks and Kerry Godley-McAvoy head to RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire for a REME Association Job Agency event.
Once again, military interest in the BuildForce offer was high: a further 26 potential beneficiaries registered, bringing our cumulative total to 140, in less than a month since BuildForce officially mobilised.
However, signing up potential construction industry workers is only one side of the equation – Mike says: “The real challenge, of course, is get some of these beneficiaries into jobs and work experience,” – so we have also been busy building up the BuildForce Alliance. This is now 30-strong, and we are growing the network of mentors, champions and ambassadors so that they can begin to help Service Leavers and Veterans into training and employment in the built environment.
